Francois-Paul Journe is a true master of his field.
F.P. Journe began his career as a watchmaker in 1976 when he received his watchmaking diploma in Paris.
In 1985 he set up his first workshop and joined the AHCI Watchmaking Association.
His motto, which is also found on his creations, is “Invenit et Fecit”, in English: “has invented and made” reflects his unsurpassed competence.
His hobbies are the unique movements, which he never leaves out of his hands from the start to final production. An ideal example of this is the resonance chronometer developed by him.
He first installed these in pocket watches and later succeeded in placing this complex masterpiece in the case of a watch and presented it at Baselworld in 1999.
The peculiarity of this watch is that it consists of two mutually independent movements, which are connected to one another only by means of balancing shafts and this at a distance of only 0.5mm!
The renowned house of Harry Winston incorporates these movements in the “Opus One” range, but also in their own F.P. Journe luxury watches.
Through his unrestrained dedication and watchmaking efforts, F.P. Journe quickly became a member of the upper ranks of Haute Horlogeri.
His masterpieces reflect his personality and his quiet character by appearing very quiet, although a magical world of watchmaking is hidden inside.
Today, the house of F.P. Journe has earned numerous awards and prizes. In 1994 he won the prestigious Prix Gaia for his unique contribution to watchmaking.
